Vrutant Mehta

About Me

I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Engineering and Applied Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, where I work with Dr. Robert Fisher in his computational astrophysics group.

My research combines cutting-edge theory and state-of-the-art simulations to understand the origin of one of the brightest astrophysical transients in the universe — Type Ia supernovae.

Prior to my doctoral studies I completed an M.S. in Physics. During my one-year OPT period I served as a Research Computing Facilitator at the Center for Scientific Computing and Data Research (CSCDR), where I gained expertise in improving the scalability and optimizing the performance of scientific codes using parallel-computing algorithms.

Beyond research, I enjoy swimming, working out, and cooking authentic Indian cuisine.
